About this site

I have set up this site so that people can get access to some of my publications if they wish to.

I will also, from time to time, blog, but really only to and for myself.  People are welcome to read what I write if they wish, but I will just use the site to vent when I want to.  I am not after an audience as a blogger--too old for that--and there is much better stuff out there.

Dr. Gee; I hope you are well.

Dr. Gee;
I hope you are well. You came to speak at University of Pan Am in south Texas. I shook your hand and said that I had not much like your Social Linguistics and Literacies book. I didn't. However, I heard you speak and I got your voice pattern in my head. I now read your work and I get new meaning from what you write. I've ordered more of your books, mostly on technology, gaming and how children learn through gaming. I have been looking for your paper presented at University of Technology, Sydney to contribute to some work I am doing in a doctoral course at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. I noticed that it is not listed here on this website. Please let me know how I can locate a copy of this paper. Thank you for your kind consideration. Connie Patchett cpatchett@islander.tamucc.edu

Dr. Gee, I recently saw you

Dr. Gee,
I recently saw you in London, Ontario. I really enjoyed the presentation, especially since an interview you conducted with CBC Spark last year inspired a class project my students are working on. We are trying to create video games that teach other students. Our first attempt is set in the Victorian Era. Here is the beta; not all characters are active: http://fc.ldcsb.on.ca/~j.pedrech/victoriantest/

By the way, I just watched a video game trailer that elicited an emotional response. The game, Dead Island, looks bloody and violent; the narrative also looks incredibly compelling.

Thanks for the inspiration!
